Tree & Limb Removal Policy
The Town of Portsmouth is responsible for safe passage on town roads and clearing of public rights of way. Most, if not all, rights of way extend beyond the pavement to include the areas on which the telephone poles are located. The DPW will remove all trees and limbs deemed unsafe that have fallen into the right of way and impose a safety hazard.
Any fallen trees or limbs which are located on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.
The Portsmouth Transfer Station is open for residents with a valid sticker. Yard waste, including tree limbs, not greater than 2” in diameter that are bundled and cut to 3’ lengths or can fit into a 55-gallon container will be accepted for disposal.
