NOTICE OF THE 

RHODE ISLAND US CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 1  SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTIONS

TO BE HELD ON

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2023

 

Sunday, August 6—Last Day to Register to Vote 

LAST DAY for new voters to register and existing voters to make changes before the Final Canvass for this electionCanvassing staff will be in the office to answer questions and process forms at 2200 East Main Road, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Registrations and changes can also be made online at  https://vote.sos.ri.gov/ 

Ways to Request a Mail Ballot 

  1. Applications available at the Canvassing office or online at https://vote.sos.ri.gov/ 
  2. May request an application by contacting the Canvassing office.
  3. May request a mail ballot online at https://mailballot.sos.ri.gov/ 
  4. Must be received before 4PM August 15

 

Early Voting Begins August 16 at Town Hall through 4PM September 5Photo ID Required

During Town Hall business hours:  Monday – Wednesday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM 
                                                          Thursday, 8:30AM to 6:30PM
                                                          Friday, 8:30AM to 2:30PM

NOTE: Town Hall will be closed on Monday, September 4, Labor Day

Emergency Mail Ballot Application

  1. Allows voter to pick up a mail ballot at Town Hall
  2. Allows voter to designate a representative to pick up ballot at Town Hall (must show ID)                

Ballots may be deposited in BALLOT DROP BOX at the south entrance to Town Hall beginning August 16.

Verify voter registration information and obtain sample ballots at https://vote.sos.ri.gov/ .

Polls will be combined for this election.

2704 & 2705  COMBINED If you voted at the Portsmouth Town Hall Council Chambers in 2022you will cast your ballot at PORTSMOUTH FRIENDS CHURCH                11 Middle Road

2706 & 2707 COMBINED If you voted at the Portsmouth Middle School in 2022you will cast your ballot at
ST. BARNABAS CHURCH PARISH HALL      1697 East Main Road 

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Early/Emergency Voting ONLY will be conducted at the Portsmouth Town Hall Council Chambers from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM on Election Day.

PLEASE NOTE: 

In accordance with RIGL§17-19-24.2, poll workers will ask you to show Photo ID when you vote at your polling site.
To vote in the Democratic Primary you must be registered to vote as a DEMOCRAT or be UNAFFILIATED.
To vote in the Republican Primary you must be registered to vote as a REPUBLICAN or be UNAFFILIATED.
In accordance with RIGL §17-10-3 (c), “You must be registered to vote from your actual place of residence.”
