There are three basic requirements to be appointed to the Discover Newport board: 1. Must have residency in the town for which appointed; 2. Must be employed in one sector of the travel & hospitality industry, (lodging, tours & attractions, dining, shopping, recreation ,transportation, and special events). Employment does not have to be in the town of residency, but that often is considered a bonus factor; 3. Must be able to attend in person a minimum of 6 board meetings a year (out of 10). The appointment is for a 3 year term with a 2 term limit.
Become a member of a board or committee! File an application and resume with the town clerk and indicate the board or committee in which you are interested. The Town Council appoints members of most town-related boards.
